Mr. Rick, aka Rick Zolkower has had a passion for traditional old school Americana: Blues, Jazz, Country, Tin Pan Alley, and Gospel performed on fingerstyle guitar and vocals for over 40 years in various groups or solo.

Rick was born in post-war Detroit and got his first taste of Music Americana from radio shows and the family collection of old Jazz 78’s.
Then came the new hot Folk scene of the 1960’s.
He learned guitar and harmonica by watching the icons of the era including Dave Van Ronk, Jim Kweskin Jug Band, Reverend Gary Davis, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Jon Lee Hooker, Doc Watson, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf and scores of other performers who were part of the fabric of American Roots music.

Rick’s passion and respect for the varied styles of Music Americana are reflected in the different ensembles he has created and performs with.
