Evening of dinner jazz with Claire Riley

Claire interprets jazz standards from the repertoires of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett,
Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Tormé, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole
and Edith Piaf — to name but a few virtuosos.
She performs in popular Toronto venues in Little Italy, the Beaches, the Danforth,
High Park, and in the heart of downtown Toronto. Claire’s also a regular talent on
the line-up for the Summer Cabbagetown Music Festival.

Known for his relaxed feel and commanding sound, Lucian Gray is a virtuosic young guitarist with a deep respect for the jazz tradition. Lucian was born into a musical family in Toronto. His father is one of Canada’s foremost trumpet players, and his mother the head of her own music school. In 2008, he was awarded the Slaight Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, where he studied with guitar guru Mick Goodrick, graduating in 2012 with a degree in music performance. After studying at the Berklee College of Music he then went on to become one of the five finalists in the first Wes Montgomery International Jazz Guitar Competition. 

He has appeared alongside notable musicians such as Guido Basso, Il Divo, Molly Johnson and Neil Swainson, among others, and has performed at prominent festivals throughout Canada including: The TD Toronto Jazz Festival, the Beaches Jazz Fest, the Prince Edward County, the Cape Breton  and the Calgary jazz festivals. Lucian is currently Head of Jazz Studies at Discovery Through the Arts, a non-profit music school in Toronto, and also plays the piano and upright and electric bass. He’s also very active in the Toronto jazz scene, performing with his own group and as a sideman.
